U Sai Nyi Nyi Soe
U Sai Nyi Nyi is the Managing Director of Fortuna Metals Limited. U Sai Nyi Nyi has good local knowledge and experience leading and running successful companies in Myanmar. U Sai Nyi Nyi also has extensive experience dealing with the Union Government, State/Regional Governments and the local stakeholders. U Sai Nyi Nyi has previously been involved in leading business delegations between Myanmar and Australia, and is a founding member of the Australia-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce. U Sai Nyi Nyi was also involved in capacity building programs for the Myanmar government, parliament's members and the Myanmar business community. U Sai Nyi Nyi assisted with AustCham's review of Myanmar's mining law rules and regulations in 2014-2016, liaising between business and the government on a review and recommendations for the laws and regulations.
Mr Geoffrey Lowe
Mr Geoffrey Lowe is a Professional Geologist with over 30 years’ experience in regional and near-mine exploration for gold, silver and base metals in Australia, Asia and Europe for both private and public companies. Geoff has been directly involved in the listing, capital fundraising and Board level management of two mineral exploration companies on the Australian Securities Exchange, including serving as Managing Director and Non-executive Director of one company from 2010 to 2017. Geoff also worked for the Normandy – Newmont group of companies for 18 years. Geoff has worked in Myanmar since 2015, as CEO of Valentis Services leading a team of over 30 geologists, geotechnical and geophysicists. Geoff has on-ground experience across many of Myanmar's states and regions. He played a major role in leading the Valentis team at Bawdwin, which led to defining the first JORC (2012) compliant resource in Myanmar.
Mr Michael Phin
Michael is a director of Fortuna Metals. Michael leads the corporate and finance functions for Fortuna Metals. Michael has helped establish a number of Myanmar partnerships and joint ventures in the mineral resources sector, and he is responsible for the corporate governance, risk and financial management of companies. Michael has been based in Myanmar full time since 2014 and is currently Group COO/CFO of Valentis, which has assisted many Myanmar and international companies with investment in Myanmar's mineral resources sector. He is also a founding member and board member of AustCham Myanmar. Michael has been instrumental in developing AustCham Myanmar’s key initiatives including the Australian Extractive Industries delegation to Myanmar, Skills Development Programs and Women in Business Leadership Forum. Michael’s previous experience was as an Associate Director of KordaMentha, a leading Australian corporate advisory firm. This included projects across the resources, infrastructure and PPP sectors. Michael’s transaction experience includes the receivership and sale of the Griffin Coal mine and power station in Western Australia, advising the financial guarantors of the NSW government’s ~$2b rail procurement project, restructuring of a ~$200m coal-fired power station in NSW and acting as advisor to Billabong International through a strategy review.
Mr Patrick Waters
Technical Consultant (Geologist)
Mr Patrick Waters is a geological consultant of Fortuna Metals. Mr Waters is a geologist with 40 year’s experience in the mining industry including Normandy Mining and Anglo American in Asia, Australia, Africa and Europe. He has ccontributed directly to discovery of porphyry copper deposits at Boyongan and Bayugo (Philippines), and gold deposits at Martabe and Aisasjur (Indonesia), Evander South (South Africa), Ovacik, Gicik and Mastira (Turkey) and Stronchullin (Scotland). Mr Waters has an extensive geology knowledge on Myanmar and has been to the Kachin region several times with the exploration programs.
U Nyunt Htay
Technical Consultant (Geologist)
U Nyunt Htay is a geological consultant of Fortuna Metals Limited. U Nyunt Htay worked for 37 years at the Department of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration (DGSE) and retired as a director. U Nyunt Htay has an extensive experience in regional geology and extensive knowledge on Kachin geology. U Nyunt Htay has done geological works in the northern remote region such as Hukaung Valley, Putao, Naungmum and Kaunglanhpu. U Nyunt Htay is also a Central Executive Committee member of the Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS).
